Ana started dancing at an early age at her home town, Valdepenas, La Mancha. Ana studied Ballet, Classical Spanish, Contemporary and Flamenco. Soon she discovered she wanted to specialise in Flamenco so travelled to study in Madrid, Seville and Jerez to be able to learn with the great teachers and dancers at the time. Ana has been teaching, performing and choreographing in England for over a decade. Ana was one of the directors and dancers of Alma Flamenco Dance Company. Ana teaches regularly at the prestigious Elmhurst ballet School in Birmingham. Ana has studied with great artists like Eva la Yerbabuena, Belen Maya, Rafaela Carrasco, El Ciro, Adrian Galia, to name but a few. At the moment Ana works internationally as an Opera and Theatre choreographer.

On Thursday 18th June ‘Jaleo’ will be available for a workshop at the Square Chapel in Halifax for guitarists and dancers. This will start from about 5.30pm and run to 7.30pm, before their performance in the evening. Jaleo are a professional flamenco troupe from Seville. There is likely to be a male and female dancer available for tuition together with a guitarist. The cost of the workshop will be £20 a head. The next Leeds Peña will begin at 8pm on Sunday 24th May 2009 in in the downstairs room of La Tasca on Greek Street, Leeds.
This will be an informal evening with dancers, guitarists and cajon players performing. Eveyone is invited to come along and encouraged to join in, if they wish. As last time there will be an entry fee of £3.00.
Palmas Workshop
Before the Peña starts Araceli Garcia, will be giving a Palmas workshop starting at 7pm at La Tasca. The cost of this will be £7.00 per person.

Araceli Garcia was born in Cartagena, Murcia. She started dancing at the age of 7, when she studied classical ballet at her local dance school. Araceli soon progressed to contemporary dance and then to Flamenco. Her fascination with the Flamenco world led her to study at the Margarita Amante Academy with Antonia Ramos and later Cristina Valle. Others dance instructors including Carmela Romero, Pepa Molina, Jesus Fernandez and Maria Moreno. Araceli Garcia is the choreographer and dance teacher for local dance troupe Candela also the Flamenco dance teacher at The Dancehouse Theatre in Manchester. Furthermore, ‘La Cartagenera’ is the dancer of Calaita, a flamenco group formed in mid 2007 also for Chico Pere (voice), Glenn Sharp ‘El Afilao’ (guitar), and Pepe ‘El Leon’ (cajon). In addition to her works, Araceli Garcia includes workshop for adults and children and the recent participation with the theatre production “Blood Wedding” directed by Jen Heyes as Flamenco choreographer.
